It has been a rediculously rough ride the past 2 times I have been to SFNE, but it is still a must ride, and its a great woody! 3/5

SFNE needs to call in the demo crew to level this one to the ground. SF has made many efforts to tame the cyclone, but it still delievers a back and rib breaking ride through hell. The train seems to come off the track at points in the ride. If you do ride it, keep your hands on the lapbars, and hang on for dear life. Long lines and one train operations plaque this scream (for your life) machine.

It's not that rough except for the pullouts, but it's ok if you know it's coming. However, the ride is downright boring. There are so many trims that there isn't any air except for 1 or 2 drops. It's sad to realize as you go over a hill that there was supposed to be airtime there.

Here is one of the most heavily criticized roller coasters on the planet. It has an interesting layout, tall drops, and many twists and turns. So why is it criticized? Six Flags has supposedly turned one of the world's best wooden coasters into only a shadow of its former self.

Unfortunately I was too short to ride the Riverside Cyclone back in its heyday :(. Despite this, I could easily tell that Six Flags has tampered with the ride. The most noticable sign is the reprofiling of the first drop and the addition of many trims that really reduce the ride's speed at times. Despite this, Cyclone still delivers a pretty good ride so I can only imagine what the ride used to be.

The ride experience begins with a long walk through the ride's structure to the station. Along the way are descriptions of some of the chain's current and former wooden coasters such as the Comet, Rattler, and Colossus. Once reaching the station, riders can select any seat they choose. I personally like the back way better than the front thanks to the much wilder and more intense ride. The front is significantly tamer. Generally lines aren't too bad for this, but they can get long due to common one train operations.

Upon dispatch, riders begin with a slow climb up the ride's lift hill. The views on the way up are quite good of the park. But the views don't last forever as I am soon treated to a very steep and intense first drop that gave very abrupt ejector air. Following that is a fast and furious turnaround followed by another good-sized drop with more ejector air. Afterwards is the second turnaround, which sadly is quite slow thanks to a killer trim brake. Following the turnaround is the ride's largest drop that again gives some ejector air for back seat riders followed by the ride's third turnaround. This one is also taken far too slowly, but front seat riders do get a great burst of air during it.

Commencing the second half of Cyclone is my favorite part of the ride, a very sudden drop that gives some great ejector air for back seat riders. Following that is another turnaround, where unfortunately the ride just loses most of its speed, resulting in the final few hills being far too slow to give the great air they look capable of. All that I get are some weak laterals.

Despite only being a shadow of its former self, SFNE's Cyclone is a good coaster. The great ejector air really makes the ride, but I can't help but wonder what the ride was before all the modifications. One final note about the coaster, I actually find it to be on the smooth side despite how many complain about it. Cyclone is the better of Six Flags New England's two woodies thanks to its moments of great ejector air.

Overall Rating: 7 out of 10
Favorite Seat: Back (6:2)
Favorite Moment: Drop out of the 3rd turnaround
