The carousel is a 4 row, all wood park model. There are 42 jumping horses, 24 standing horses, and 2 chariots. The "Carrousel" spelling is by original sign painter and it still used today. It features 1788 light bulbs and a Wurlitzer 153 military band organ.
History:
This is Philadelphia Toboggan Company carousel #47. It was built in 1919 and was orginally at Liberty Heights Park (Baltimore, MD) from 1919 to 1929. It then relocated to Enna Jettick Park (Auburn,NY) from 1929 to 1944. Hersheypark replaced their Denzel carousel with this carousel in 1945. It is still operating.
