Based on Universal Pictures' phenomenally popular
"Mummy" films which have grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide, Universal Studios Hollywood and "Mummy" writer-director Stephen Sommers have collaborated to create the world's first psychological thrill ride and Universal Studios Hollywood's first-ever roller coaster: "Revenge of the Mummy-The Ride."

The introduction of "Revenge of the Mummy-The Ride" coincides with Universal Studios Hollywood's 40th Anniversary. As the Hollywood landmark enters its fifth decade, the arrival of this ground-breaking thrill ride signals a milestone in the transformation of what was first conceived as a "behind the scenes look at Hollywood filmmaking" into a world-class entertainment destination.

Not just a roller coaster, "Revenge of the Mummy-The Ride" will tap into riders' primal fears through immersion in a total multi-sensory environment. Utilizing animatronics, sophisticated motion picture technology, state-of-the-art ride, audio and robotics engineering, the ride will play upon common human phobias:

Lysgophobia … fear of the dark
Entomophobia … fear of insects
Tachophobia.. … fear of speed
Acrophobia … fear of heights
Demonophobia … fear of evil spirits
Necrophobia … fear of death

Employing the same technology utilized in futuristic magnetic levitation trains, "Revenge of the Mummy-The Ride" marks a new evolution in roller coasters by fusing an electro-magnetic propulsion launch system with new linear induction motor ride tracks.

A good ride that offers much of what the Florida version does, in the way of the complete ride experience, but what it lacks in speed, both forward and back, it makes up for in intensity.

Felt it wasn't as good as the florida one
even though the story is clear in this ride the FL one seems more intense and exciting

Lame attempt at theming. Might as well have just made this an outdoor coaster since any attempt at theming was basically lost. Whether or not this was due to space constraints the Florida version is leaps and bounds ahead of this one.

This ride was pretty good. I've only been to Universal Studios once [last year summer '05] and when i was right about to get onto the train, the ride broke down. sooo we ended up going later. they really need to give out sorry passes or w/e. like if you're in line and it breaks and you.. ahh you get what i mean.

It was a good ride but i was very disappointed because in the commercial they made it seem like the best coaster ever

Rode it for the first time today. It was fun, but not astounding. Very short ride, the special effects were minimal (considering they hype it up to be an incredible sensory experience), and the initial story rooms prior to the coaster section were scarce. Would not wait more than half an hour to ride this again.

Fun ride, especially the backwards launch and the turn table thing.

Ehh, it was ok. My group screamed loud enough to make it so that I was temporarily deathened. Three girls, and my friend made the day somewhat enjoyable....
