More About This Ride
Features:
One of the few roller coasters in the worlds to still its original hand-breaking system.

History:
This was the main piece of a five ride addition in 1938 to help rejuvenate the struggling park. It replaced Scenic Railway.

In 2002, Conneaut Lake Park replaced the National Amusement Devices (NAD) trains that were purchased in 1966 with a restored Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC) train that originally ran on the coaster.

Blue Streak was SBNO from 1995 to 1996, 2007 to 2008, and plans to reopen in 2010.

This is one of the more interesting rides I've been on. It's rough...but not too rough. Roaring through the woods in the back seat of this ride is a thrill with great airtime on the first three hills. It's a beautiful ride that I hope will never see the axe.

The history says that a restored PTC train runs on the ride. That is incorrect. The train is the original Vettel train. A PTC has never run on this ride. It's train is very similar to those on the Jack Rabbit at Kennywood. They have a second train in storage as well, but it may be a parts doner for the one being used now. While looking at this ride, it appears to be nearly rotted, crooked, and unkept. Nothing could be further from the truth. While random sections of the coaster have been painted different colors at different times, and the more recently replaced wood has not even recieved a coat of paint, the coaster is in excelent condition. I was shocked and amazed at how smooth it really is. Throughout the ride, if you keep an eye on the tracks you may think you see a jagged bump, or unrefined curve coming up. Most notable is the wavey path of the lifthill. Even the most untrained eye cannot help but notice that the track seems to wonder precariously off of the expected straight path to the top of the hill, but the train just slides right on through the entire course as if the tracks were brand new. It is a remarkable sight and a unique experience.
