History:
In 1988, Shockwave opened as the tallest and fastest coaster in in the world.

First roller coaster with seven inversions.

Park originally announced to remove the Whizzer by the end of 2002, but allegedly due to an overwhelming amount of phone calls, e-mails, and letters received by fans of the ride regarding its removal, the park decided to remove ShockWave instead of Whizzer. Speculation began circulating which regarded the entire incident as nothing more than a publicity stunt.

Dismantled near the end of the 2002 season and was replaced with Superman - Ultimate Flight.

After being in storage for approximately a year, the ride's parts were finally scrapped during the Fall of 2004.

Shockwave's blue and yellow trains were relocated to Six Flags Magic Mountain for use on Viper, and its red train was relocated to Six Flags Great Adventure for use on The Great American Scream Machine.

Does anybody know if this coaster is coming to SFNO?

As of October, it was still laying in pieces.

IF this ride is relocated--pray it gets a total makeover. It was excellent when it first opened, but was the roughest steel ride I've ever been on in it's last few years.

This was a fun, but rough rollercoaster. I enjoyed it and was disappointed that it was taken down, but I'm looking forward to trying out the new coaster in its place.

I used to absolutely hate this coaster! It hurt so bad to ride and the blacking out was almost expected. However, when it opened it was supposedly an excellent ride. I also will miss watching it as i entered the park. It was the most vivid memory of my childhood visits to the park so in that aspect, it'll be missed.

This was a world-class coaster that didn't need to come down. There were many other places in the park that they could of put Superman - Ultimate flight. More and more of these Arrow Mega-Loopers are coming down and it's really sad. Yes, this ride was rough, but what Arrow coaster isn't?

I wish it wasn't taken down too. Shockwave was a great ride to watch when walking into the park. Now only Viper and GASM remain.

Correct! Only Viper and GASM remain. Great American Scream Machine and Shockwave were replicas. However, Viper was modified differently from the first two for a more comfortable experience.
