History:
Wet'n'Wild Water World is a Queensland and Brisbane Tourism Awards winner, widely regarded as Australia's only world-class water park with unique and innovative family attractions for a diverse range of visitors.
Wet'n'Wild Water World officially opened in October 1984 as Cades County Waterpark and was owned and operated by the Herringe Group of Companies.
In 1986, the park was renamed Wet'n'Wild Water Park, becoming a favourite attraction for many guests in the South East-Queensland region.
In February 1989, Village Roadshow purchased the park. Now owned and operated by Warner Bros. Movie World Enterprises, Wet'n'Wild Water World joined sister parks Warner Bros. Movie World and Sea World to become part of the Warner Village Theme Park Group - the premier theme park group in the Southern Hemisphere.
The group's operating partners are AOL Time Warner and Australian Entertainment Company, Village Roadshow Limited.
In 1993, an enormous gas heating system was installed enabling all slides and pools to be heated to a warm and comfortable temperature all year round, allowing locals, interstate and international visitors access to the water park throughout the winter months.
With Village Roadshow and Warner Bros. continuing to invest in new attractions and facilities, the park was renamed Wet'n'Wild Water World in 1997 to recognise its growing status as a world-class attraction.
This status was reinforced following the park's most intense period of development which culminated with the opening of Mammoth Falls - Australia's most spectacular water slide - in September 2000.
As a result of Wet'n'Wild Water World's recent success, the park has received the 1999 Queensland Tourism Award for Tourism Marketing and Promotions and the 2001 Brisbane Tourism Award for Best Major Attraction.
Wet'n'Wild Water World employs approximately 30 full-time administrative and management staff, as well as approximately 120 fully qualified lifeguard, food and beverage and maintenance staff. During peak summer trading, this number triples with extra staff to service the park.
