Notes:
It's the chance of a lifetime to be completely immersed in the glamour and excitement of Hollywood. Beyond the red carpet and just inside the famed Universal Studios Hollywood gates awaits a world created through magic and imagination, a place of movie stars, thrilling action heroes, resurrected mummies, roaring dinosaurs and fearsome giants. It's a place that will arouse thrills and evoke memories and is home to where many of the world's most memorable and award-winning motion pictures and television programs come to life.
In June 2004, Universal Studios Hollywood will entomb guests within the ancient Egyptian world of Stephen Sommers' "Mummy" movies when the world's first psychological thrill ride and the theme park's first-ever roller coaster, "Revenge of the Mummy - The Ride" debuts.
The introduction of "Revenge of the Mummy - The Ride" coincides with Universal Studios Hollywood's 40th Anniversary. As the Hollywood landmark enters its fifth decade, the arrival of this ground-breaking thrill ride signals a milestone in the transformation of what was first conceived as a "behind the scenes look at Hollywood filmmaking" into a world-class entertainment destination. The movie-based theme park has fully evolved from its Studio Tour beginnings by adding rides and attractions that employ the latest in both movie and theme park technologies and offer both local and visiting guests a uniquely immersive entertainment experience.
The adventure continues at "Terminator 2: 3D" where guests are immersed in the stunning special effects, ground-breaking 3D film and pulse-pounding live action of James Cameron's dramatic "virtual adventure" and at "Jurassic Park - the Ride" where guests face the unrelenting terror and exhilaration of Steven Spielberg's breathtaking film.
The "Greatest Fairy Tale Never Told" come to life in Universal Studios' state-of-the-art attraction, "Shrek 4-D," based on the DreamWorks' Academy-Award winning hit. Featuring ground-breaking "OgreVision" animation and sensory immersion, "Shrek 4-D" reunites the comic talents of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz and John Lithgow with the artistry of the animation team at PDI/DreamWorks who created the original blockbuster in an all-new animated saga that picks up where "Shrek" left off.
"Spider-Man Rocks" brings the excitement of the Marvel super-hero to the stage in an elaborate 20-minute production packed with pyrotechnics and stunts, along with music, eye-dazzling choreography, dynamic costumes and a cast of dancing, singing and web-wielding actors in the fun-filled, family friendly attraction.
"Special Effects Stages" immerses guests in the magic of moving making special effects and gives them an opportunity to participate in some of the behind-the-scenes filmmaking and cutting edge technology used to create the special effects from such Universal blockbusters as "The Scorpion King," "Gladiator," "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas," "The Mummy" and "The Hulk."
In "Back to the Future - The Ride" guests scream through time in Doc Brown's flying DeLorean and feel the heat of "Backdraft" as it explodes to life in an inferno of flames.
Aboard Universal Studios' signature attraction, the world famous behind-the-scenes "Studio Tour," guests get even closer to the world of movie making magic, as they navigate the studios 415-acres, soundstages, facades and sets.
Universal Studios Hollywood is the only movie and television-based theme park to offer guests the authenticity of a working movie studio. Within its gates, the rich heritage of movies past and all the stars and excitement of today's Hollywood truly comes alive.
