More About This Park
Notes:
An excellent fan site, Around The World, was used as a reference source to add rides to this database page.

Worlds of Fun, which opened in 1973, and Oceans of Fun, the adjacent water park that opened in 1982, were acquired by Cedar Fair in 1995. Located in Kansas City, Missouri, Worlds of Fun serves a total market area of approximately seven million people centered in Kansas City, but also including most of Missouri as well as portions of Kansas and Nebraska.

Worlds of Fun is a traditional amusement park themed around Jules Verne's adventure book "Around the World in Eighty Days". The park offers its guests more than 50 rides and attractions, including ThunderHawk, a six-story-tall spinning thrill ride; Boomerang, a 12-story-tall steel roller coaster; Mamba®, one of the tallest and fastest coasters in the world; the 200-foot tall Detonator; and Timber Wolf®, a world-class wooden roller coaster.

Oceans of Fun is one of the largest water parks in the Midwest. The park offers a wide variety of attractions for guests of all ages, including Paradise Falls, a four-story interactive water extravaganza that features water cannons, water slides and a 1,000-gallon bucket that empties every five minutes on guests below; the Typhooon, one of the world's longest water speed slides; a giant wave pool; Hurricane Falls, a large water slide raft ride; and several children's activity areas. A separate charge is required for Oceans of Fun, which is operated seasonally from May to September.

Covering more than 235 acres of land, Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun make up the number one tourist attraction in the Kansas City area today.

This park has become a little (ahem) dated. Nontheless, it continues to be quite a great place to go, especially with its Mamba hypercoaster, another Morgan creation. Unfortunately they removed the Orient express due to high maintanance cost, or something like that and replaced it with Spinning Dragons. However, the Mamba makes it worthwhile to visit, and the Timberwolf isn't bad either. Stay away from the Boomerang unless you want a serious case of whiplash.

This is a nice park, when we were there most shows were shut down and there were not many vending stands for drinks or otherwise. Our favorite coaster was the Mamba. At the last time we were there the Orient Express was closed due to mechanical problems, we got wind there had been an accident however that is really unknown to us. We like this park, however we dont make it a point to go there on a regular basis. It is just OK, not great.

This is a great family fun park. It has thrills like Mamba and Timberwolf, but also has a great kiddie section and rides like Spinning Dragons for those older young ones trying to take the next step into coaster riding.

They left the Omegatron off the list of past rides. IT was an old Kamikaze ride. The only one I ever say that did not even have to swing back and forth before going all the way over. It used to just get right up and go all the way on the first try. CRAZY!!
