History:
Six Flags completed the purchase of Jazzland from Alfa Smartparks on August 28th, 2002. The park was renamed Six Flags New Orleans on November 14th, 2002.
Park (under the name Jazzland) officially opened its gates in 2000.
Park closed after floodwaters resulting from Hurricane Katrina left the park disabled. Many of the park's buildings, facilities, and rides were submerged in water levels ranging from three to six feet in depth. A park spokesperson said it would take a year or more to restore the park, rebuild it, and bring it back up to standards for operation.
Notes:
SFNO is a 140-acre park divided into six themed areas: Jazz Plaza, Cajun Country, Pontchartrain Beach, Mardi Gras, DC Comics Land and Kids Carnival
